Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship encourages undergraduate women to enter careers and seek leadership positions in business management.

The international award was established from a bequest by Jane M. Klausman. Jane was a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York and the 1990-1995 Zonta International Parliamentarian.

Who is Eligible?

Women pursuing undergraduate business studies who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed two to three years in an accredited undergraduate program and exhibit outstanding academic credentials.

Application Process

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship Program operates at the Club, District, and International levels of Zonta International. Applicants must be nominated by their local Zonta Club. Our Scholarship Chair is Pam Davis.

Date: Each local club may select its own due date provided the winner at the club level must be submitted to District Chair by July 1, 2019. Announcement of ZI and District winners will be announced in mid November.

Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Awards Program

The Young Women in Public Affairs Awards (YWPA) Program recognizes pre-university or pre-college women students’ commitment to the volunteer sector, volunteer leadership achievements and dedication to the advancement of the status of women and thus encourages more women students to enter careers in public policy and community organizations. Since 1990, 311 awards have been made to young women in 35 countries.

Who is Eligible?

Women who are pre-university or pre-college students (16 – 20) who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism that supports advancing the status of women are eligible to apply.

Application Process

The Young Women in Public Affairs Awards (YWPA) Program operates at the Club, District, and International levels of Zonta International. The closing date for clubs to submit to district for 2019 has expired and the District 11 winner were submitted to International by May 1, 2019.

Women in Technology Scholarship

Chair: Christine Tomasetti

Purpose: To encourage women to pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in technology.

Eligibility: Women of any age, pursuing a technology degree or closely related program, who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field.

Date: Each local club may select its own due date provided the winner at the club level must be submitted to District Chair by August 1, 2019. Applicant may determine nearest Zonta club by using the Club Locator at www.zont.org. Announcement of ZI and District winners will be announced in mid-November.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship

Purpose: To promote doctoral studies for women with a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-applied sciences or aerospace-applied engineering.

Eligibility: Any woman pursuing a Ph.D/doctoral degree in the above fields and enrolled in such program by November 15, 2018.

Application must be submitted directly to Zonta International and must have been submitted by November 15, 2018 to be considered for 2019. The dates will be approximately the same for 2020. Application: May be downloaded from ZI website (www.zont.org).
